Questions and Responses

Below are the candidate questions and responses to the Washington Voters Guide Survey.

1. Energy: Do you support or oppose exploration and development of domestic sources of energy including oil and natural gas.
Candidate did not answer this question.
Support
Our nations' energy crisis is one of policy, not resources. We absolutely must use our own oil, gas and hydroelectric potential to run our own economy. The best thing we can do for America, and the entire world, really, is to return America to financial stability. A rational, non-idealogical energy policy is essential.
2. Taxes: Do you support or oppose requiring a 2/3 vote in both houses of the Washington Legislature for tax increases?
Oppose. Candidate did not respond to question. This position is based on his/her vote on ESSB 6130 on 2/22/2010.
Support
The citizens have voted several times to control government spending this way. I personally voted for those initiatives as a citizen and I will follow exactly the voters intention in this regard. Excessive spending at the state level is our core problem here.
3. Immigration: Do you support or oppose granting health care benefits and taxpayer funded assistance to illegal immigrants?
Candidate did not answer this question.
Oppose
I consider the control of our borders to be paramount. No thing and no person should be able to cross our borders without going through a customs official (either ours or that of a neighboring country). No drugs coming in, no money going out, no weapons, no persons. We do need, at the same time, a guest worker program which allows the safe and reliable passage of people who will work, for instance, in farming and then allow them to return home with their earnings.
4. Education: Do you support or oppose granting the Department of Early Learning the authority to oversee programs and education for children from birth to age three?
Support. Candidate did not answer question. This position is based on his/her vote on 2SHB 2867 3/5/2010.
Oppose
I prefer local control of schools.
5. Insurance: Do you support or oppose a state mandate requiring all insurance policies to cover abortion?
Support. Candidate did not return survey. Answer based on procedural vote on bill ESHB 2330 3/02/12.
Oppose
I will not support the use of taxpayer money to fund abortions; the only exception being in a case where the mother's life is actually in danger and she is truly destitute and unable to pay.
6. Family: Do you support or oppose legislation allowing payment for surrogacy services?
Support. Candidate did not respond to question. This position is based on vote on bill E2SHB 1267 4/21/2011.
Oppose
7. Marriage: Do you support or oppose redefining marriage to include same-sex couples?
Support. Candidate did not answer question. Position is based on vote on bill ESSB 6239 on 2/1/2012.
Oppose
I recognize that my personal view is not in line with the will of the voters. The greatest problems facing our State and Nation today, however, are economic and that is where I will focus my energy.
8. Abortion: Do you support or oppose the U.S. Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion?
Candidate did not answer this question.
Undecided
While I personally abhor abortion, I recognize that my personal view is not in line with the will of the voters.
